Newcastle's Loris Karius and fiancée reportedly denied entry to Berghain over fashion choice

Newcastle United goalkeeper Loris Karius and fiancée Diletta Leotta were reportedly denied entry to Berghain, due to Leotta wearing a "bright yellow coat."

According to a report from Bild, the German goalkeeper and his Italian media personality fiancée had attempted to get into the infamously difficult-to-enter nightspot during a recent trip to Berlin.

Leotta reportedly told friends "I told you that I want to go to Berghain, this very famous nightclub, where there is a very strict admission control."

While Berghain's bouncers rarely give a reason for denying entry to prospective punters, Leotta theorised that it was due to her "beautiful yellow coat" and "radiant smile" that she and her goalkeeper beau were turned away. "I've never been dumped like that before,” she is quoted as telling friends.

While Berghain doesn't have a dress code, it's thought to be more likely that hopeful queuers will get in if they wear all black.

"Loris made a mistake, among other things, because he first persuaded me to go in first. Usually, girls have more chances," she continues. "And they looked at me like that and [shook their heads]."

Karius isn't the first celebrity to get a "nein" from Berghain's famously difficult-to-please bouncers.

In 2022 Tesla founder Elon Musk took to Twitter to criticise Berghain after reportedly being knocked back by door staff, writing: "They wrote PEACE on the wall at Berghain! I refused enter."
