Kiwi Rekords to cease releasing new music, Conducta announces

Conducta’s Kiwi Rekords will not be releasing any new music, the label head has confirmed.

Kiwi Rekords announced the news via a post on Instagram on Sunday (April 21), writing: “Today the scene is a vibrant worldwide community & with that being said we feel our mission has been accomplished.”

“Now feels like the right time for me to step aside and press pause on the label," the statement continues. "The music will live on and the memories will stay but for now there will be new forthcoming music on Kiwi Rekords.”

The label was created in 2019 by the Bristol-born, London-based producer with the aim “to create a community and contribute to a healthy ecosystem for the music we all love that is UK garage.”

The label has hosted releases from the likes of Novelist, Sammy Virji, Prescribe Da Vibe, Smokey Bubblin P as well as Conducta himself.

The label hosted a series of shows across the UK, at venues including Liverpool's Meraki, Leeds’ Mint Warehouse and Wire, London’s Colour Factory, Leicester's O2 Academy and more.

Kiwi Rekords began life in 2019, with backing from Red Bull Music, resulting in a series of sold-out shows, and a slew of releases from up-and-coming UKG talent.

The label survived lockdown despite having to cancel a 2020 US tour, adapting to restrictions through the remix competition “Kiwi Kup” which saw winning music from producers and vocalists broadcasted via livestreams.

Conducta has also announced a party to give a "proper goodbye" to Kiwi Rekords alongside "a couple of other things" to send the imprint "off in style."

The party is set to take over Night Tales Loft, London this Sunday (April 28), with a "special final line-up" yet to be announced. Get tickets for the Kiwi Rekords closing party here.
