Four years on from their last LP, and Fuck Buttons have been putting all their efforts into creating ‘Slow Focus’.

As Benjamin Power describes it, “there’s a brooding and almost violent theme throughout”. He couldn’t be more right, as from the off you’re pummelled by nightmarish opener ‘Brainfreeze’ which uses thunderous, crashing drums and ominous tones to start the album off.

‘Year Of The Dog’ makes itself just as dark by incorporating laser-like synths that were just a bit too devilish for Daft Punk to use. ‘Sentients’ delves you further into the macabre state, as does the glitchy ‘Prince’s Prize’.

‘Stalker’ and ‘Hidden XS’ finish the LP off by both breaking the 10-minute barrier, and both are as ghoulish as the rest. ‘Slow Focus’ is a grisly journey into the unknown, but an exhilarating one – if you’re willing to take it.
