Last night, Ministry of Sound's student night, Milkshake, was gatecrashed by the Movida Corona UK Finals. The DJ contest ran by everyone favourite lime enhanced beer staged the UK finals in The Bar.
Following a pre-party at the Hed Kandi bar in Clapham, DJs from Ireland, Scotland, Leeds, London and Birmingham battled it out to win the chance to represent the UK at the world final in Madrid.
Judging the contest were two previous winners, Steve from Pacha and, following a few Corona's, a couple of the visiting Mixmag staff who happily stuck their oars in.
The winner was Danial ‘Jnr’ Windross, 24, from Cheshunt in Hertfordshire. In his set he overcame the mixer failing on him twice to win over the crowd and the judges. He has been DJing since he was 13 years old, making his first leap onto the club scene at 15. He has a residency called House Headz at East London’s Vibe Bar and is the son of veteran DJ, Norris 'da Boss' Windross.
His prize includes accommodation and VIP treatment at the world finals, £1,000 cash prize, Pioneer CDJ equipment and cases of Corona Extra. Let's hope they throw some lime in there too.
