In three years the DD series has built a reputation as one of the most exhilarating and comprehensive dance compilation series of all time. Now, four new double CDs take the total to 16. ‘American Hot’ is chock-full of big hitters from the likes of Claudja Barry and Aretha, ‘Midnight Shift’ focuses on disco’s speed-fuelled hybrid, Hi-NRG, while ‘Europa’, as you’d expect, focuses on choice nuggets from Italy and Germany in particular. Perhaps the best of the new lot is ‘Exotica’, featuring such delights as Pussyfoot’s kitsch disco-pop classic ‘Lay Your Love On The Line’ and Voggue’s mid-tempo Studio 54 staple ‘Dancin’ The Night Away’. Ridiculously good, clean fun.
