Kitsuné comps offer up a veritable pick ’n’ mix of all things good in electro at a particular moment in time. Previous editions have introduced us to Hot Chip, Metronomy, La Roux and Tom Vek, and Vol 12 offers up more contenders for the ‘You heard it here first’ club. The Pyramid remix of ‘Teenage Teardrops’ by Hearts-revolution is like a less angry Crystal Castles drenched in Justice’s sugar gloss production, while Juveniles’ ‘We Are Young’ is a masterclass in icy synths and huge choruses. However, the genre’s current omnipresence does lead to a slight shrug of the shoulders when faced with 12 new 80s-style synth-driven songs. Our advice? Pick and mix.
