Giving a DJ three CDs to fill could be a recipe for self-indulgence. But Peterson, a DJ and label owner who’s championed almost all forms of dance music over the years, has a musical spidey-sense that’s as good as anyone’s. Split into ‘Dusk’, ‘Dawn’ and ‘Twilight’, this covers everything from Light Of The World and Freeez, through Soul II Soul and The Young Disciples, to Art Department and Kode 9. In fact the only thing missing is d’n’b, but, despite this, it’s an exhaustive but thoroughly rewarding collection of tip-top, jazz-influenced dance music from the 1970s onwards.
