Maxmillion Dunbar is a big dude with a big beard from Washington DC who looks as though he should be fronting a hardcore band like Fucked Up or Les Savy Fav – or, with his receding hairline, specs and thrift store fashion sense, a librarian who’s got lost in a rave. But put him behind a set of decks and it turns out he’s a big bundle of fun with an awesome taste in piano house, acid, jackin’ traxx, boogie and various bumpin’ sub-genres from the back of beyond. That’s all funnelled into ‘House Of Woo’, a weird, wonderful world where analogue witch-craft runs riot. It’s a place where house music melts into a joyous, shimmering gloop. Like Com Truise and Tevo Howard swigging absinthe in a sauna.
