For all of his deserved recognition, it’s probably fair to say Mathew Jonson is yet to deliver his masterpiece. Switching from his own Wagon Repair imprint to Crosstown Rebels, the Canadian’s follow up to 2010’s ‘Agents Of Time’ was inspired by a period of positive change during last year. This good-time vibe is hard to detect, with the first-half of ‘Her Blurry Pictures’ consisting of complex and somewhat introspective minimalism. ‘Body In Motion’ delivers some much-needed momentum, paving way for typically epic trance number, ‘Lightweight Champion’. Despite the title track completing a late surge of quality, it still marks another patchy long-player from a proven producer.
