Following ’09’s well-received ‘A Certain Distance’ comes Jeff Mcllwain’s third album under his Lusine moniker. As one of Ghostly International’s mainstays, the Seattle-based producer has released a slew of quality avant-pop for the best part of a decade now. While there are still cinematic instrumentals such as aptly titled opener ‘Panoramic’, ‘The Waiting Room’ finds the American shifting further towards a more mainstream sound. The infectious ‘Another Tomorrow’ marks the standout moment, the other vocal-led track of note being a cover of Electronic’s early-90s anthem ‘Get The Message’. Despite falling short of the compelling grip of his last album, Mcllwain has once again delivered the goods.
