After almost 20 years of rampantly eclectic DJ sets, legendary parties and zany releases, Daniel Tyler and Conrad McConnell finally release their first real album. Sitting somewhere between Quiet Village’s sun-baked exotica and label-mate Lindstrøm’s balmier disco endeavours, lazy strings, shimmering soul and Balearic flair combine over the course of eight surprisingly low-slung productions. The neo-ska of the superb single ‘One For Kenny’ and the other instrumentals mark the better moments, with the honeyed vocals of ‘Shine’, ‘Going Down’ and ‘The Way I Like It’ gradually proving one sprinkle too sweet. It arguably only packs one real standout track, but ‘Cellar Door’ is still a refined and fluid long-player.
