There’s no doubting Delilah’s talent. On tracks like the heady, windswept trip-pop singles ‘Breathe’ (produced by Delilah and Hyperdub’s LV) and ‘Go’, the 21-year old north Londoner displays a delivery that only Jessie Ware can match in her class. Little wonder, then, that Prince invited her to support him in Australia last month. Production-wise, the album is all throbbing bass, dramatic string swells and heartfelt vocals, with ‘I Can Feel You’ coming across like 3D and Daddy G at their most Massive. And while it can be a little too safe (‘Shades Of Grey’ and ‘Only You’ could be Regina Spektor or Olive), ‘Go’, the brooding ‘Insecure’ and ace breakout single ‘Love You So’ all bristle with energy. Good news: ‘Roots’ is more Tracey Thorn than Ellie Goulding. Ralph Moore
