It’s an appealing notion. Two New York-based Berlin dudes, in love with seminal electronic composer Manuel Göttsching, put together a series of underground 12”s that “explore the concept of duality through a personal lens”. Catnip for hipsters and blogging ‘tastemakers’, right? Right. The results, all shimmering synths and echo effects noodle along on 4/4, often for the best part of seven minutes, and we can’t help but feel that some of this has been done before. Happily, Blondes’ bacon is saved by a brilliant second disc of remixes that’s jammed with smart, imaginative rerubs from JD Twitch, Andy Stott and Teengirl Fantasy.
