Rescoring dance tunes for orchestras is nothing new as Jeff Mills, Carl Craig, Armin van Buuren and recently Nero prove. But none of the previous dance acts have such a wealth of well-known hits as Basement Jaxx. In their new, dramatic, goosebump-raising orchestral guises you’ll find yourself falling in love with the arrangements of even your less favoured Jaxx tracks – and what’s not to love about a well conducted BJ? Sometimes it’s hard to hear the original track among the 60-odd instruments being played but at the very worst the collection may add a touch of unexpected class to your next public iPod shuffle.
