Richie Hawtin has shown his admiration for Deadmau5, saying: "I really respect what he’s doing, because he’s taking it to another level, a level that I never thought possible when I started."
The Minus head honcho gave props to the man in the mouse mask at a recent panel discussion that took place during the Electric Daisy Carnival in Las Vegas.
Hawtin continued: "He’s still kept control and is realising his own artistic vision. We play totally different music, but that’s what I respect about our whole scene. We’ve kept control and we’re on our own paths. That’s what I respect.”
He also recalled time spent with Deadmau5, aka Joel Zimmerman, at the masked producer's studio. Ever the dance music socialite, Hawtin has now made public his respect for Skrillex and Deadmau5, two artists you might not expect to associate with the minimal techno hero.
