Seems like everyone is claiming they invented dubstep...first Korn, then Carl Cox claimed he was playing dubstep before it even had a name. Next up, pop producer Pete Waterman, who says he was "doing the sounds years ago".
He says: “You know the Hit Factory really started drum and bass, and dubstep, we were doing those sounds years ago. Now Sub Focus and Chase & Status all come here to make their record.”
He also reckons the fun is lost in clubbing. "The records in the charts this week won’t bring a smile to your face. That’s why all the clubs are closing down.
“Now everybody wants to get pissed and violent when they go out. What we did with bands like Steps is have a laugh. I think we’ve lost that."
Let's get this straight, Pete. Clubs are closing down because chart music isn't fun anymore? We need to have a laugh with Steps? Words fail us.
