NEW MGMT ALBUM INSPIRED BY APHEX TWIN AND HOUSE

Psychedelic mavericks, MGMT have cited Aphex Twin and house music as influences during writing their forthcoming album.

The long-gestated, currently untitled, third LP is due out provisionally in June this year. According to duo Andrew VanWyngarden and Ben Goldwasser, it's going to be 'even weirder' than the last one as the two have been using materiral from their free-form jams to construct tracks that reflect the Aphex Twin and house records.

In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Goldwasser says: "We're not trying to make music that everyone understands the first time they hear it".

Some fans we confused by 'Congratulations', as it was quite a departure from their breakthrough 2008 hit 'Kids', Goldwasser explains: "People thought we took too many drugs, which was not the case at all," insists Goldwasser.

Needless to say, watch this space.
