As we're all now aware, dance music is gaining some serious ground in the US, with new recruits everyday. But, with the fast growing world wide fan base, some terminology can be lost in translation.
Enter Moby, international translator. He has recently explained to USA Today some key words that every dance music fan must know. And for the Brits who still don't know what the dickens 'EDM' is, read and learn.
"The first thing to know," Moby says, "is that no one calls it electronic dance music. The term is EDM, and it's a catch-all term for the different forms of electronic music."
He continues, "Acid is not the drug. It specifically refers to the sound of a bass line, and it's very synthetic."
"Electro has meant so many things in the last 30 years. Originally, it meant futuristic electronic music...now, it means hard electronic dance music."
