John Lennon, Freddie Mercury and Elvis Presley are just three of many musicians who have statues dedicated to them around the world and there could be another added to the list for a somewhat innovative grime figure. Where? East London.
Wiley is the man in question as a petition has been issued, asking Tower Hamlets Council to erect a statue of the rapper in Bow to pay homage to the inspiration he's had on the local community.
The petition has been launched by Julie Adenuga, Rinse FM presenter and sister of JME, who wrote: "We the people feel very passionate about the public figures in our community who have helped shape our culture and environment as we've grown up from teenagers to young adults to mothers and fathers."
She added: "Richard Cowie (aka Wiley) has undoubtedly inspired an entire generation. A man who has put his heart and soul into what he believes in and consistently shows passion and perseverance."
Let's come together, hold hands and sign.
