Stuart Price has revealed that he is currently “on hiatus” from production duties for other artists in order to focus on releasing his own material. The first track 'Reload' was played on the Pete Tong show on Friday night and is now up for download from Soundcloud. Released under his Jacques Lu Cont moniker, it is one of the new tracks he has been road-testing during his recent live dates.
“I’ve really missed making new records and playing them instantly,” he said. “It’s the opposite of album production where you work on something for six months, then play it. I love making a track on Thursday, playing it on a Friday and getting instant feedback from the crowds and going home and changing it based on how it goes down. You can’t beat that.”
Speaking after his DJ set in Newcastle as part of the Annie Mac Presents Tour, Stuart also revealed that he is working on a new Les Rhythmes Digitales album-the first since 1999’s Darkdancer. “I’ve started the record a few times over the years and ended up collaborating with people and using the songs, which is good because they’ve gone on to be something they’d have never been if I’d done them by myself. But now’s a really good time to just make tracks and put them out there without taking it too far.”
