Dutch dubstep man Martyn has claimed that dubstep in the US has taken the place of nu metal.
Speaking to The Guardian the DJ said, “An electronic music rave in America is like a Limp Bizkit concert 10 years ago. If you listen to a Skrillex set, it’s basically just an orgasmic reaction every three minutes”.
Dubstep has spread through North America like wildfire in the last year with even pint sized pop star Justin Bieber getting in on the act.
And it's hard to argue that there's not some obvious overtones between the genres, especially considering its poster boy, Skrillex's rock band past.
So how do you think the current boisterous strain of dubstep compares to nu metal? Is Skrillex more comparable to a Fred Durst than say a Pinch or Lofeah? Let us know your thoughts.
