Even though Simon Neale has been producing since the mid-noughties, he only started to release productions under the alias of Shadow Child in the first half of last year.
Originally working under the name of Dave Spoon, making electro house-leaning tracks for Seamus Haji's Big Love label and Mark Knight's Toolroom Trax, the Portsmouth-born artist dashed those tendencies when he delivered the hypnotic, entrancing and damn fun 'String Thing' as Shadow Child. And that was also the tune that got him signed to Claude VonStroke's Dirtybird Records.
Subsequent plays were heard in DJ sets by the likes of Eats Everything, Justin Martin and Annie Mac before further releases arrived on R&S affiliate Apollo, Jaymo & Andy George's Moda Black and his Food Music label with the '23' EP and soon with his 'Collected' album.
Not just known for his production output, Shadow Child lays claim to his own Rinse FM show every Wednesday, playing host to guests such as recent UK chart-topper MK and T.Williams in the past as well as a new breed of bass-house upstarts in the form of Karma Kid and Hannah Wants.
In the lead up to the release of 'Collected' and the Food Music showcase alongside Kry Wolf at The Nest in London on November 22, Shadow Child goes In Session for Mixmag.
Collected is due for release on December 1
