The star studded MTV Video Music Awards' usual showcasing of presenters and performers from across several genres continues in like fashion tonight from the Staples Centre in Los Angeles, California.
However, this year will be different to previous years. While the award for most share-worthy video is a clear sign of MTV keeping up with the times of music utilising social networking sites, MTV have also added Best Electronic Dance Music Video to the list this year with Avicii, Skrillex, Martin Solveig, Duck Sauce (pictured) and Calvin Harris the nominees.
Historically, the category has had a bit of an identity crisis. Back in 1989, MTV began awarding VMAs for Best Dance Video, then is was Best Dancing in a Video, then Best Dance Music Video. Now in 2012 it is Best Electronic Dance Music Video.
All dancing R&B artists, step aside.
