BIG CHILL 2012 CANCELLED

The Big Chill Festival has cancelled its 2012 event due to a clash with the London Olympic games.

The event was due to take place at Eastnor Castle Deer Park in Herefordshire from August 2 until August 5 but according to organiser Melvin Benn, was struggling with a lack of artist availability and booking confirmations because of the clash.

The Festival Republic managing director issued a statement earlier today saying, "I looked long and hard late last year at moving the date so it didn't clash with the Olympics but the mix of the festival fans desire to keep the date and an inability to find an alternative date that works, I plumped for maintaining the existing weekend.

Sadly, the artist availability and confirmations we were achieving led me to conclude that I couldn't risk going ahead with the event as an outdoor event this year."

Benn went on to say that plans were afoot to put together a smaller indoor event and that The Big Chill would be back as an outdoor event in 2013.

People who have already purchased a ticket for the event are advised to contact their vendor about a refund.

What do you think about the news. Will you miss the Big Chill in 2012?
