Drum 'n' Bass Editor
Likes: poorly punctuated rave flyers, Cruyff turns, 808 bass kicks, daydreaming about being DJ Friction
Dislikes: jealousy, the lazy use of horror film samples in dance tracks, not being a successful 19-year-old music producer
Ewen Cook is a drum 'n' bass cliché, graduating from starry-eyed raver to clang-tastic Technics owner to failed promoter while spending thousands of pounds on ear-splitting white-labels he still loves to death. He stowed away on the good ship Mixmag after editorial stints at seminal junglist's mag Knowledge and later IDJ, and can generally be found enthusing about "corkscrewing" basslines on the d'n'b pages. His former career as the world's luckiest bedroom DJ began and ended in the mid-noughties, after a mixtape comp win saw him DJing with his heroes, playing gigs abroad and even hosting a show on 1Xtra. He's still got the flyers. Keep the dream alive, kids - jungle loves you.
