Blonde twins with model looks have a decent chance of making a career in any branch of showbusiness – but Australian-born sisters Liv and Mim Nervo spent most of their time puttting others in the spotlight with their gift for a melody.
“Ten years ago in Australia we met a girl who worked as a manager for a UK pop group. She saw us in our studio and asked if we would like to make music in the UK. We agreed straight away,” says Liv.
Since moving to London, Nervo have penned pop hits for Ke$ha, Kylie Minogue, Kelly Rowland and Pussycat Dolls, and collaborated with David Guetta, Avicii, Armin van Buuren, Afrojack and more. In 2011 their official Tomorrowland anthem “The Way We See The World” reached No. 1 on Beatport. But it was 2012 that turned Nervo into a true sensation and put them into the spotlight: they released four singles, smashed Saturday at Creamfields on the North stage, hosted a party at Delano during Miami WMC and secured residencies at Wynn (Las Vegas) and Ushuaïa (Ibiza).
“We love it,” says Mim; “we spend so much time on the road, so the best thing about a residency is that it is your home away from home”. Not that the girls plan to concentrate solely on DJing. “We definitely still want to be ghostwriters for other artists. That way you can make different music, you don’t have to necessarily satisfy your label – or your fans. We hope to write music forever”.
