From Deadmau5 to Groove Armada, Ultimate Ears’ client roster is a true A to Z of tunesmithery. In fact, every alphabet letter is covered in a sprawling list that spans decades of hitmakers. But that’s not why we rate these headphones. We love them for their punchy delivery that’s rich with detail and nuance. Deep-fried bass, dripping with fatty warmth, complements the delicately-balanced treble tones. For gym bunnies, there are stiffened cable ends that lock on to your lugs, leaving you free-to-flail without them coming loose. So snug is the fit, you’ll be blissfully unaware of every other sound in the world; great if you work out in a room full of sweaty grunters, but potentially dangerous if you get your fit kicks in traffic. For iPhone and iPod users, there’s an in-line remote, though the version without this controller are a full fiver less. That said, for a solid pair of buds with performance like these, you’re unlikely to quibble at this price.
