Best all-rounder
Sonos
Sonos sets the gold standard for music streaming hi-fi. It’s so user-friendly and adaptable that it’s suitable for every conceivable application throughout your house. If you’ve got an iPhone, iPad or an Android phone, you’ll already have everything you need to control it: Sonos makes its own touchscreen handset, the £280 Sonos Control, but there’s a good chance you won’t need it because your iThing will work just as well. All you need do is choose the Sonos audio component for your needs. A great starting point is the £260 Play:3, an iPod dock-sized all-in-one, but there’s a range of components designed either to plug into or completely replace your hi-fi. And Sonos can support up to 32 separate systems on the same network, all working independently of each other or, if you prefer, sharing the same tune at the same time. How’s that for a party system?
