After becoming the subject of legal controversy that surfaced over the past few months, major club cornerstone Verboten has reportedly been seized by the state of New York.

Reports began to surface when fans of the nightclub shared an alarming sign that had appeared on the door of the venue.

The sign states that the venue has been seized due to failure to pay taxes.

Controversies aside, there is no denying that Verboten was a trailblazing presence in New York nightlife that left an indelible mark on the city's club scene. If it does disappear, it will be missed.

Mixmag has reached out to Verboten for comment.
