The BPM Diary: Day 4

Four days in and we're now firmly in the groove: rest, rinse and repeat. The sun finally shines down upon Playa del Carmen and we strut up to Canibal Royale for the Crew Love party. Tanner Ross kicks it off with Mtume's 'Juicy Fruit', the tender funk track that Biggie sampled for his hit 'Juicy'. We then catch Life On Planets' lush live set and close the evening with No Regular Play and Soul Clap, who blow the doors off the place.

We then move on to Mano Le Tough's Maeve Rave which features DJ Tennis, Baikal and The Drifter, each dishing out beefy two hour sets. We catch the label head himself put down a huge tech-inflected deep house set which ends with one of the highlight tunes of BPM 2015 – Carl Craig's remix of 'Your Love Will Set You Free' from Caribou.

As night rolls in we find ourselves back in Blue Parrot getting silly at the Circo Loco bacchanal, which features Apollonia, Black Coffee, Dyed Soundorom, Shonky, Dan Ghenacia and last month's Mixmag cover stars The Martinez Brothers, who all throw down the heat to a sold-out 'n' eager crowd of four thousand tequila'd and taco'd-out ravers.

We end the night by shambling into the Smoke 'n' Mirrors showcase at La Santanera, which features New York-based duo Thugfucker, Dirtybird heavyweight Justin Martin, Marcus Worgull, Wildkats, and Maxxi Soundsystem who drag us into the wee hours with some of the most talked about sets of BPM so far.
