It might have taken 16 years for The Avalanches to release their much-anticipated follow up LP to 2000's sample-based masterpiece 'Since I Left You,' but they've already hinted a third album could be arriving soon.

Speaking with presenter Tommy Codling on Sydney's FBi Radio, the collective's Robbie Chater said he and fellow member Tony Di Blasi had been getting stuck into writing since returning from the US.

“It’s flowing so quickly. I think getting 'Wildflower' out of the way and following up 'Since I Left You' feels like a weight’s been lifted. The (new) music is really light, it’s some of the best stuff we’ve done,” he told the Arvos program.

“We’ve got eight songs we’re playing to the label on Monday. Who knows when (they’ll be out)? Next year? It’s definitely soon.”

However, with a series of teasers in the years before 'Wildflower' finally dropped in 2016, we're containing our excitement just a touch for now.
