Yesterday Chilean DJ Ricardo Villalobos cancelled his set at this weekend’s Lovebox festival in East London. He was also meant to appear at fabric's afterparty, but dropped out due to illness on doctor’s orders.

This would have been Villalobos' debut at the festival, and he was meant to play the fabric stage, but instead DJs Terry Francis, Jackmaster, Craig Richards and Zip extended their sets to replace him.

fabric released an official statement that read: “We are very sorry to announce that Ricardo Villalobos has been forced to cancel his set today at Lovebox and tonight at Lovebox After Dark at fabric, due to severe illness. Being the dedicated artist and machine that he is, he would never cancel a gig without good reason. Ricardo expresses his heartfelt apologies for having to cancel at short notice, this was as much an important gig for him as it was for us - both sharing our London festival debuts.

He is absolutely gutted that he has to do this but body and doctors are saying no. At this late stage we have not been able to find a replacement for our Lovebox stage today but Craig, Zip and the rest of our artists will be playing longer sets. We are currently working on an addition to the line-up for the After Dark party tonight in EC1 and will be making an announcement at the earliest possible time.”
