"New rules and regulations" forced Guy Gerber's Rumors party in Ibiza to be cancelled at the weekend.

The Beachouse event was briefly silenced last week when plain-clothed police officers showed up at the venue, although the music was turned back on, but it was called off entirely yesterday.

A press release read: "This sudden news is unfortunate, but we are still very happy that we had so many wonderful nights and made so many people happy. We want to thank you all for an absolutely amazing season.

"Because of these restrictions we can't continue in a way that will preserve the magic that we've experienced together every Sunday, but we are still working on our closing party which will happen on October 4."

The Rumors team also thanked everyone who has partied with them over the summer and the DJs who have played, including recent Lab LDN artist Matthew Dear, Miss Kittin, Carl Craig and Luciano.

Beach parties on the island have been hit hard this year, with tINI and Carl Craig also being affected.
