Google joins the race for live streaming dominance with a new stand-alone app called YouTube Connect.

The leading platform is attempting to place its stake in the live broadcasting market at what seems to be the peak of its boom. A few brands early to live streaming have reached an average of 100 million users, leading Facebook to dip its toes in with lucrative results with its recent Facebook Live addition.

At a future point, Google intends to add a chat and tagging feature along with a news feed with videos.

No official date has been set, but YouTube Connect will be released in the coming months.
