Glastonbury makes it possible to watch the Pyramid Stage whilst you sit on the loo

WaterAid’s ‘loo with a view’ will premiere at this year’s Glastonbury festival

As part of WaterAid's Make It Happen campaign, the organisation is launching the 'Loo with a view' at Glastonbury next week, a toilet that uses a two-way mirror to allow users to see out, without anyone outside seeing in.

You probably won't want to hang around for too long watching Kanye in the stench of the long drops, but the whole thing comes with a more serious intention – to raise awareness of the fact that around a third of the world's population has to go to the toilet in the open.

Speaking about the 'Loo with a view', Chris Wainright, head of communications at WaterAid, said: "This installation will allow a brief glimpse into the lives of those who have nowhere safe to go to the toilet, and often suffer the indignity of being stared at, harassed or even attacked."

The campaign's intention is to make taps and toilets a focus of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, which are due to be decided in September. As well as the 'Loo with a view', the organisation will also bring the 'WaterAid poo', a hygiene campaigner with an unmissable outfit, who will be collecting signatures for the petition.
