Who? Starting out life in one of Africa's most populous, chaotic and musically rich cities isn't the standard upbringing of your average East London hipster. But that's exactly where life started out for Metronomy's Olugbenga Adelekan. Cutting his teeth in bands in his native Lagos, Olugbenga made the move to the UK where he was soon drafted in as Metronomy's bass player, as the band were on the cusp of releasing their third album 'The English Riviera'.
Why? Besides providing the sublime basslines that made 'The English Riviera' such an appealing prospect, not to mention gift to remixers, Olugbenga is a DJ and producer in his own right. His DJ sets combine leftfield electronica, hip hop and bass driven sounds to make for a diverse and unique live experience.
Where can I see him? Olugbenga plays Soundwave Festival in Croatia between July 19-23. For more details and tickets click here.
