CLASSIC MIXMAG COVER CD
JAMIE JONES VS SETH TROXLER
To celebrate Mixmag's 30th birthday, we're uploading some of our most legendary cover CDs. Chosen by our staff, these are the mixes that rocked the office stereo and sent some of the biggest names in the game on their way to stardom. First up, Jamie Jones vs Seth Troxler
Our Jamie Jones vs Seth Troxler cover CD appeared on the front of the November 2010 edition of Mixmag, when the pair were the new party boys du jour. They'd become DC10 residents, were both at the fore of two fresh labels (Hot Creations and Visionquest respectively) and were garnering a reputation as the go-to DJs for good times and too many hi jinks.
The mix contains the second single to be released on the Visionquest label (Footprintz 'Utopia'), a special Jamie Jones re-rub of Art Department's smash 'Without You', a personal favourite from Troxler that he discovered while at high school (Victor's 'Go On Do It'), Roska's crossover banger 'Love 2 Nite' and Jones' 'Summertime', which was a key part of his sets at DC10 that season.
With Jamie Jones' trademark sun-splashed sets and Seth Troxler's psychedelic trips into the world of 4/4, it was clear that they were set for big things. Now they get booked to play across the globe and are seen as dudes who can rock a party, then the afterparty, then the after-afterparty. WIth Hot Creations and Visionquest flying high, they've cemented themselves as true dance music legends.
So here's a classic session from Jones and Troxler, kicking off a month of birthday celebrations here at Mixmag. Enjoy!
