Ten artists to see at Strawberry Fields

These acts will keep euphoria levels high long after the dust has settled

It's not all spiders and snakes deep in the Australian bush. Head to The Wildlands at the right time of year and you'll stumble across some of the best house and techno the world has to offer among the tree branches and dust.

For seven years, that's exactly what Strawberry Fields has been serving up to a pop-up community of ravers somewhere between Sydney and Melbourne in late November. Funktion One soundsystems, cutting-edge art installations and stage designs, an untamed natural environment and, of course, seriously good music have made this festival a must at the beginning of Australian summer.

To make sure you get the most out of your Strawberry Fields experience this year, we've put together a list of artists bound to leave you in a long-lasting state of euphoria as you make your unwelcome journey back to civilisation.

András

One of Melbourne's most exciting producers, András has a signature sound distinctly his own. Last year's 'Café Romantica' LP with Oscar Key Sung as András & Oscar was one of our favourite Australian releases. Laidback house for sun-drenched afternoons, kick back with a cold beer at this one.

Bicep

The Belfast lads need no introduction and are sure to whip the main stage into a frenzy of flexing muscles at some point over the three days with their extensive catalogue of house stompers and wide-ranging library of records. This one's a must.

Booka Shade

Another that needs no introduction and one of electronic music's most formidable live acts. The Berlin-based legends travel to Australia for the first time this year as part of the festival. Picturing 'Love Inc' and 'In White Rooms' cutting through the gum trees deep in the night is shiver inducing.

Cobblestone Jazz

The Canadian three-piece brings their unique twist on techno to the dancefloor through classic jazz techniques. Their improvisational live performances featuring analogue drum machines, synthesisers and keyboards are a stimulating, alternative way to experience electronic music in 2015.

Palms Trax

The Berlin-based UK producer has risen to prominence over the past two years with a couple of exceptional releases including his debut 'Equation' EP on Lobster Theremin. This year's 'In Gold' EP on Dekmantel was all class. Dreamy house music from Europe's electronic capital.

Patrice Scott

The Detroit producer has carved a path of his own alongside the city's best with a string of solid house and techno releases including this year's brilliant 'Euphonium' LP on his Sistrum Recordings label. Deep, rhythmic soundscapes to get lost in.

Sleep D

At the forefront of Melbourne's diverse electronic scene as heads of the Butter Sessions imprint and hosts of some of the city's best parties, Sleep D's Corey Kikos and Maryos Syawish will take festival-goers on a driving techno journey into heavier territory when the sun goes down.

Tensnake

You can't go past Tensnake as the preferred purveyor of vibrant house and disco when summer festival season rolls around. There are guaranteed good times wherever the Hamburg DJ and producer turns up. Another must.

Tornado Wallace

The Melbourne producer relocated to Berlin earlier this year but returns home across summer for a series of club dates and festival slots. In his element in the Australian bush as much as anywhere else, evident in releases such as 'Kookaburra' (as Coober Pedy University Band with Otologic's Tom Moore) and this year's 'Kangaroo Ground' / 'Ferntree Gully' on Beats In Space Records, you're in safe hands with Lewie Day behind the decks.

Wax'o Paradiso

While Soul Clap will no doubt be laying down serious grooves at Strawberry Fields 2015, the Melbourne collective's Edd Fisher, Simon TK and Andy Hart also know how to get any party started with their bottomless crates of disco, funk, soul and boogie crackers.

Of course, these are just recommendations on how to play your Strawberry Fields cards. Letting the festival take you on a spontaneous psychedelic foray into the creative installations and surrounding environment is also sure to leave a profound lasting effect.

As Seth Troxler's tour manager Alex Perez told Mixmag after last year's experience: "The vibe was real."

Strawberry Fields 2015 takes place at The Wildlands, Australia, from November 20-22. For more information and the full line-up of artists playing this year, head to the festival's website
