DJ Aki

"A very good friend of mine from Tokyo. He's a huge drum 'n' bass DJ out there. An institution. We met when I toured Japan around eight years ago and while I don't listen to a whole lot of d'n'b I know what I like – and I love Aki. He's not afraid to include elements of techno and rave with his selections. He thinks outside the box and finds different ways to communicate with the crowd. Every time I see him play he makes me think about exploring different genres and sounds."

Frizzo

"Frizzo is the man! We go way back; he was a young kid coming to my hip hop shows in the 90s. He's now one of Düsseldorf's best producers and DJs. He's always developing his musical spectrum: Hip hop can be a very boring place to be, which is why I left it in the mid 90s, but he does things in such a way that it's always fresh and exciting. Check his LP 'Exit Only': so many different ideas and sounds are in there. Downtempo, uptempo, electronic, organic – it's really exciting. I love anyone who sticks to their roots but puts their own direction and development on it."

Francisco Allendes

"A young artist from Chile and Ibiza who has released on many great labels such as Cadenza, Viva and of course Desolat! I love the Latin, melancholic type of vibe that you find in all his tracks. He's very rhythm-based and very percussive. You can tell he's not just sitting there with a bunch of plug-ins, he's really playing and feeling his shit. He's got a very broad, organic sound that's developing all the time. Recently I sent him SoundCloud links of artists I was feeling and he came back really inspired with 15 killer tracks. I can't wait to release them!"
