"I can remember one at Ushuaïa with Luciano and Mirko Loko playing back-to-back and it was amazing. It wasn't full but the vibe was perfect for the time of day and afterparty atmosphere. The music was completely trippy. It was about two or three years ago when Luciano was in a super high moment and was playing a lot of different music to what he'd play at night. There was another where I was playing a private afterparty and I remember girls walking around without any tops on. You find a lot of different, strange and special people at afterparties. My top three afterparty DJs would probably be Sven Väth in first place, Luciano or Ricardo [Villalobos] in second and Jamie Jones in third."

"The best one was four years ago in the second year I played for The Zoo Project at Privilege. They had an amazing villa not far from Amnesia, hidden on the hill because they don't want everyone going there. It was just for people close to them and the DJs that play. I met Anthea [Nzekwu] and Julietta [Zoo Project resident] and from this we became really good friends. At one point we started to cook sausages and stuff and it was a bit too much! We started around 6am and it lasted until the afternoon. At some point people were just laying around but someone was always keeping it going. Everyone was taking it in turns. Of course there were plenty of funny moments but I probably shouldn't say. Things happen in afterparties that maybe you don't want to tell! It was just really good having deep conversations with people I'd just met and that was really important with my relationship with Anthea and Julietta who I play with quite a bit."

"It was the Kave last year on a Tuesday morning, after DC-10 on the Monday. Damian Lazaurus, Ricardo [Villalobos] and Livio [from Livio & Roby] were playing and that's who I went down with. I was asked to play but I didn't have any USBs or CDs with me. All I had was my Traktor setup and I didn't want to do the whole Traktor thing at a party like that. I just hung out, mainly with Damian, and a few friends. I really loved it there, it's insane. It's kind of like a modern, new era hippy sort of vibe. It reminds me of a sleazy jazz bar in New York in the way it's so hazy and steamy. They were giving out cigarettes and drinks and walking around making sure everyone was comfortable and had everything they needed. Where on earth gives out cigarettes!? Not many people know about it so it's best not to say where it is. I knew half the people there so it was a very comfortable environment. There's a big, smoking caterpillar outside like you see in Alice In Wonderland. Afterparties don't always go with the word 'comfortable'. Sometimes they can be abit edgy, a bit sketchy or a bit dry, but this place is super cool."

Steve Lawler plays VIVa Warriors at Sankeys Ibiza on August 30, September 6, 13 and 19
