10 parties not to miss at BPM

Every January, all of underground dance music's superstars descend upon the beach paradise that is Playa Del Carmen, Mexico for the one and only BPM Festival. This year, celebrating its ninth anniversary, the festival is yet again hosting hundreds of international DJs, industry professionals and dance music scene-sters for ten full-on days.

As it stands, BPM is arguably the premier North American festival when it comes to underground house and techno. With a handful of epic parties to choose from every night it can be a bit overwhelming, so have a look at Mixmag's top ten parties not to miss and plan accordingly. 2016 will without a doubt be another year of magic in Playa Del Carmen.

1 YA'AH MUUL

This year, YA'AH MUUL will make a move to a brand new, undisclosed location simply known as The Jungle. On January 9 starting at 5pm, Tale Of Us, Paul Kalkbrenner, Guy Gerber, Luciano, The Martinez Brothers and more will take BPM attendees from morning until... morning. 2 Music On

BPM wouldn't be quite right without a round of all-night sets from the likes of Marco Carola and Paco Osuna. On January 10, Blue Parrot is the place to be to see these prolific talents add yet another legendary set to their catalogues. Find more about Music On here.

3 Solomun+1

Be at Martina Beach on January 15 to catch Solomun and Mano Le Tough usher in the evening. Solomun+1 will bring its Ibiza vibes to the beaches of Mexico once again this BPM. Tickets and info for Solomun+1 are here.

4 Making Shapes

Last year, Making Shapes had one of the most outstanding parties of the BPM season and this year, they're out to reach the same standard. Move D and Wolf + Lamb are leading this show and it is guaranteed to be one not to miss. Find more info about Making Shapes here.

5 Danny Tenaglia at Blue Parrot

Another repeat party returns to BPM in 2016 to prove that each year it can best itself. Mexico is to receive high quality treatment on January 14 from Danny Tenaglia, a man known for his ability to carry a night with his marathon sets. Find more information about the show here.

6 Listed

In 2016, Listed celebrates a special decade milestone and is gearing up for an event with the caliber to match. On January 13, Doc Martin, Jay Tripwire, Halo Varga and several more will take La Santanera by storm to ring in 10 years. Find more information on Listed here.

7 Pets Recordings

Pets Recordings is bringing its very best to the BPM label showcase. With names like Catz 'N Dogz and Justin Martin leading the charge, this Canibal Royal party is set to be another event to schedule in. Don't miss the show on January 8, and find more info about it here.

8 9 Years of Akbal Music

Akbal Music is a favored Mexican electronic record label, so it's only fitting that their nine-year celebration take place at BPM. On January 10 at the Canibal Royal, join Akbal Music and Rodriguez Jr., Sascha Dive, Robbie Akbal and more all day from 12pm - 9pm. Learn more about the party here.

9 Crew Love

For a proper day party, make your way down to Crew Love at Canibal Royal on January 11. Led by Wolf + Lamb Soul Clap, special guest Laid Back and PillowTalk, this day party kicks off at 12pm in Playa Del Carmen.

10 Mixmag Presents: This Is The End

It wouldn't be BPM without a massive closing party. Mixmag will be hosting the final goodbye at Martina Beach club with the don Jamie Jones, Lauren Lane, Ellen Allien and Mekanism. It's going down on January 17 from 12pm - 9pm.
