Turn your laptop into a studio with £600 worth of goodies
Wanna produce and perform your own music? Mixmag has teamed up with Ableton, Novation and Focusrite to turn your computer into a music making machine and have blagged the three things you need to start producing and playing your own tracks.
Ableton Live 8 – This music making software is well known for being easy to use and incredibly powerful. You can start creating music straight away with its simple approach to putting beats and samples together. But don't think this is just for learners. Live is used by the likes of Sasha, Richie Hawtin and Daft Punk.
Novation Launchpad - The one problem with music software is that using your mouse doesn't feel very musical. Novation's brand new Launchpad enables you to 'play' Ableton Live like an instrument, or what studio engineers call a 'control surface'. Novation's fans include Orbital, Royksopp and Roots Manuva.
Focusrite Saffire 6 USB - All producers need a way of getting high quality sound in and out of their computers. Focusrite make professional recording studio equipment used by producers for Madonna, Jamiroquai and La Roux. The Saffire 6 USB uses the same technology to record microphones/keyboards/guitars into your computer.
To win all this kit, worth almost £600, just tell us which production software Daft Punk and Sasha use. Text the word Mixmag followed by your answer to 81066. Texts costs 50p plus your normal rate for a text. Normal Mixmag Ts and Cs apply. Last entry is March 1. Good luck!
