...do you prefer it to be mixed 'live' rather than on Ableton? I quite like it when you can hear the odd small mistake or quirky bit that shows it's not all done on computer. Unless the mistakes are BIG it actually shows the skill of the DJ more... or do you want it flawless?
For my money Layo & Bushwacka!'s 'All Night Long' 2CD comp, from years back, is both a wicked journey through house and really well mixed. Their more recent 'Global Underground: Rio' mix is good too and with the same 'rough around the edges' feel I just mentioned.
DJ Dixon's 'Body Language' mix from last year (?) is one of my favourite house comps of all time, v. quirky though and some of the tracks are a bit odd.
Finally I'm going to say Ame's 'Coast II Coast' mix. It's a real trip with some great production skills on show, and definitely one for the horses!
Ive been into house/dance/trance and loads of other types of music for about 15 years now and i'm still not really sure what type of house music i really like. I'm not into really hard house but regular house is sometimes abit mainstream and soft for me! I'm hard to please.
No it dosent have to be new, it just has to be good ;-)
Thanks very much for the suggestions, i will check them out straight away and let you know what i think :-)
I do like some of Layo and Bushwacka's stuff from a few years back so i'l looking forward to listening to those albums.
Yeah i do prefer live mixing but the comp stuff is fine too.
Jon - try the new Fred Deakin compilation, Nu Balearica. its wicked.
Thanks Natalie, I'll try that one. :-)
Just heard a few tracks off that album Natalie. Its a bit slow for my tastes really.
Thanks anyway
Anyone else?
Jon.
What kind of house are you into Jon?
Can it be a comp? And does it need to be new?

Love to know what you think of any of the above.
