Usually I hate jazz worse than death, but The Very Best Of Bob James, out next week, is very cool. Maybe best known as the guy who wrote the theme tune to 'Taxi', James' work has also been sampled by (deep breath) NWA, Public Enemy, Mary J Blige, DJ Shadow, Eric B & Rakim, Kruder & Dorfmeister, Run DMC , Beastie Boys, Missy Elliott, Massive Attack, Nas, KRS One and De La Soul. In fact Bob James is arguably the most sampled jazzer of all time.
