Grooverider gets sentenced to 4 years in Dubai prison
Grooverider has been sentenced to four years in prison.
The Radio 1 presenter and long-time DJ partner to fellow drum 'n' bass pioneer, Fabio, was arrested for possesion of 2.16 grams of cannabis at Dubai airport in November.
After an initial hearing in January, Grooverider, real name Raymond Bingham, told the court he did not know the drugs were in his possession and that he had no intention of bringing them to Dubai.
He was sentenced by the Dubai Court of First Instance and will be deported after serving his sentence.

I saw Grooverider play at a small club in Santa Monica in 1998. The place was completely pitch-black, apart from the Orbital-style lamps worn by the bar staff.
I don't remember anything about his set, but getting to the toilet was an absolute nightmare.
