Day time raving.. the way forward?
We all know about the early morning after-clubs, but what about starting afresh for the day?
I recently went to an all day Lost Souls party at Public Life which started at 10am and finished at 5pm (but it was allowed to stay open till 7 due to the way it went down!)
Me and my girlfriend got up about 10 and made our way across London for 12. The weather was beautiful and although the initial crowd was made up of mangled all-nighters, most of these faded out to make way for the 'fresh-as-a-daisy' clubbers.
What this opened up, for me, was a whole new experience. The music was bangin' and the novelty of going in when it was light and coming out when it was dark made it quite frankly, lovely. I left club buzzing, ready to take on what ever London had to throw at me for the evening.
Perhaps this is the way forward for the summer? Does anyone know of any all day parties coming up of a similar vein?
Btw the next lost souls is this Saturday (23rd Feb)

Well - there are many ways in which this type of clubbing is a good idea.
Mainly, i think, is the fact that it attracts serious clubbers - ie people who are there for the music.
You either have two scenarios - you have the clubbers on a long shift and who see the daytime opening as their last throw of the dice before they stumble off to bed, or you have people who get up fresh, get ready and go along to start off their day with a boogie.
In both scenarios - you don't tend to get the 'Few beers and a pull' brigade who are out just a 'night out' rather than being there because of the music policy or relaxed vibe. Even if you do go there to get wasted on alcohol - it is unlikely that you would have been drinking in pubs for a few hours beforehand!
This can only be a good thing in my experience - for the punters AND the staff who have to deal with the unpleasant effects of alcohol every weekend. Not just the aggression that you may be thinking of - but other things such as broken equipment/fittings, toilet damage, and less things generally spilt around the place such as drinks and bodily fluids!.
You also find that the amount spent per head is actually slightly greater even if the numbers are less. This is because most people will have a full pocket of money on them when they arrive and are more willing to spend money for lots of other reasons it seems.
You can also book DJ's who are good, but not necessarily the big names - as the punters will enjoy the music if it is good underground stuff, rather than being impressed woth a fancy name.
