Mark Ronson wins Best Male Solo Artist at Brits
The Brits has always been a laughable award show and this year was no different.
Mark Ronson, the producer and DJ, was awarded Best British Male Solo Artist at last night's bash.
We don't for one minute think Mark Ronson isn't one of the best producers and DJs in the the world right now - but a male solo artist? Wasn't his album made up of collaborations? Isn't this a bit like when Fatboy Slim laughed off winning a song writer's award at last year's The Ivor Novellos?
This isn't the first time The Brits have proved themselves to be a joke. In 2002 it overlooked The Chemical Brothers and Groove Armada to give 'Best Dance Act' to The Sugababes. The following year The Brits dropped the 'Best Dance Act' Award altogether, despite dance music being one of Britain's few decent musical exports.
Fatboy Slim, Mark Ronson and Underworld at O2 Wireless
Not content with already headlining two festivals this summer (Glastonbury and Rockness) Fatboy Slim has been announced as the headliner for the 02 Wireless festival in London's Hyde Park.
The festival, which last year had Daft Punk playing the headline set, will take place on the 5th July.
Mark Ronson has also been confirmed along with Underworld. Tickets go on sale on Monday.
